Dean’s Circle

The Dean’s Circle consists of our generous alumni, friends and staff who are committed to supporting world-class education at Melbourne Business School. We welcome all donors who give $100 a month for 12 months or a single gift of $1200 or more within a year to the Dean’s Circle.

Through their resources and time, Dean’s Circle donors gain the ability to define our School, shape its future and inspire others to follow their example.

We were honoured to have Professor Rajesh Chandy, Tony and Maureen Wheeler Chair in Entrepreneurship, London Business School deliver the 2018 Charles Goode Oration.

The Winds of Change: Harnessing Growth and Doing Good in Emerging Markets

The winds of change that are blowing in the world today are in many ways unprecedented in human history. In this oration,Rajesh Chandy will argue that businesses today have a unique opportunity to harness these winds of change and serve as a force for good. He will seek to make a case for why even leaders at the largest and wealthiest firms in the world can benefit from immersion and engagement in the lives of the smallest entrepreneurs and the least privileged customers in the world.

Rajesh Chandy is also the Academic Director of the Wheeler Institute for Business and Development and Chair of the Marketing Subject Area. Rajesh’s current research lies at the intersection of business, innovation, entrepreneurship, and development. His recent projects have covered the impact of business skills among micro-entrepreneurs in South Africa, novel financing approaches in Ghana, property rights in slums in Egypt, innovation among farmers in India, highways and private education expenditures in India, and using big data for development outcomes.

Chandy received his PhD in 1996 from the University of Southern California. During 2006-2008, Chandy served as a member of the US Secretary of Commerce Advisory Committee on Measuring Innovation in the 21st Century Economy. In 2018, he was elected a Fellow of the British Academy.
